I think my first attempt at liquid cultures has been a bit of a failure. They're all cloudy because I didn't filter the LME solution & I may have over cooked it in the pressure cooker. Time will tell but I'm learning!
I find everything about growing mycelium fascinating! Such a cool hobby.
Sometimes if the mycelium is strong enough it can outgrow the yeast (most likely what is causing cloudiness) but other times not
Yeah definitely some yeast in the yellow oyster LC jar. The jar is air tight & has become pressurised (I'm guessing through fermentation). The confounding factor is I don't remember how they appeared immediately after inoculation.
I decided to try a 1% LME/DEXTROSE solution in 6 new jars while I wait for my new lids to be delivered. I filtered the liquid through double coffee filters & it's much clearer. I wish I'd paid more attention last time.
Its all learning through practice, which I enjoy.
