nostr has nothing to do with bitcoin or crypto (shitcoins + scams)
I’m honestly lost mate. I’m just a new user trying this out and was under the impression that Bitcoin was cryptocurrency. Is it not?

When people say “crypto” they typically refer to the many scam coins that rode the hype of bitcoin. Bitcoin is not crypto. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency for sure, it is the only legitimate and decentralized one that was not built to scam people. it is not in the same category as “crypto”.
Ahh understood. You’ve likely got a lot of nostr uneducated people joining now (myself included) and I had no idea.
I don’t know how to code, otherwise I would try to help create a welcome splash screen pointing to nostr docs (assuming that would demystify things like this). I get it now though. Thanks for the reply.
