Did you use the API or the web gui? I saw there’s a place to upload files, was thinking I could upload source code so that it had it for reference with every query.

I used the web gui. I needed to do preformace reviews. Always a pain in the ass every year. Entered in their numbers. Got industry specific commentary then cleaned up.

Ended up cutting 5 hours of work (10hrs to a week with procrastination/dread breaks) down to about 30-45 min

It sort of made it fun, because I love dicking around with ChatGPT to see what it's capabilities are.

To make that crap fun is really saying something.

Used it to proof my employment cover letters. I'd say it improved them.

As part of the workflow yes, but not abdicating responsibility completely.

Prompt it so it can prompt you, give you some 'candidate text', drafts to play with, new directions to explore.

But, remember it has no accountability and often if you dig a little deeper you'll find flaws in the things it spouts so confidently. If possible use the GPT Playground not the ChatGPT interface.

Finally, you can touch up the completed work with something like Quillbot.
