I visited Copenhagen for the first time earlier this summer and while there, my wife’s and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a really nice meal out.

We raved to the waiter about the sourdough rye bread (and other courses!) and ended up getting a tub of the starter used to make the bread.

The starter made it home safely (after several questions at security 😅) and yesterday I made my first load with it.

So satisfyingly good! Just thought I’d share. 😋

That sourdough bread sounds awesome. I've always wanted to make it, but was intimidated by the process of keeping the sour dough alive.

Thanks! I felt the same for many years, and a friend got me started. It was so much easier than I imagined. I highly suggest trying. Happy to share my recipe if you want? I expect a local baker may be willing to give you a bit of their starter to get you going.
