This thread shows the current state of popular Nostr web apps. As you can see, we still have a long way to go on usability and stability.

I'll be honest with you all. I barely use web apps any longer because every single one of them provides me with a less than optimal experience. I try to use them, get frustrated, and just pull out my phone while sitting at my computer. I do this daily. I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved though. Our devs are always improving their clients.

My computer fans go crazy when trying to load a nostr client lol

What have been your biggest frustrations with nostr webapps?

most content won't load or is extremely slow, making the experience not fun and it almost always is just faster to stop what im doing, pull out my phone, and type the note, reply, search for the note that im looking for, zap the person, etc. they just don't work as well as they used to work for me.

Yeah I see what you mean. I will say, in terms of sheer speed, https://nostrudel.ninja is hard to beat

It’s almost like - oh, I dunno - browsers weren’t meant to be a universal application platform.

The world has forgotten what is possible with properly written software on hardware from 20 years ago, let alone today.

Instead, we have what @saifedean would call “fiat software”. It’s so bad that people are wrapping web apps in #electronjs as a hack to get more desktop-like functionality, break out of the browser, and just add to the security nightmare.

We all need to collectively reject this movement.

I'll agree here. It's been the trend of 20+ years thanks to Internet downloads to release early and release often instead of building a shippable product and mailing media to people. Minor bugs are now commonplace. That said, all clients on Nostr are known to be alpha or beta at best. they're being developed live before our very eyes.

100%. There is an ocean of difference between an unfinished product/project that people knowingly opt into (for free) and those who sell an unfinished product as something final.

On nostr, there are as many or more web clients than native applications. This makes me sad. Its early days, still, tho - and so people are trying out / prototyping ideas. This is sensible. And again, its all up front.
