What are people using as the real inflation index?
Staple Groceries and Essential Home Products is what I personally use as a benchmark.
I’ve been saving my receipts for the past few years. I’ve always thought it would be useful to compile that data as a metric on Houston grocery price inflation.
Is there someone out there doing that? Basically just buying a basket of the same good and comparing volume and price of the item month over month?
There definitely is. Catering invoices would be a good place to start.
