Unpopular Opinion - You don't need to route all your Bitcoin / Lightning node traffic through tor, HTTPS encryption is good enough for most daily use.

You use tor to mask your IP address.......

I understand, tor is also being ddos'd and has been completely hi-jacked by the feds tho.

Maybe we should talk about I2P

What's the difference between i2p and tor?

Greetings, my friend. While you are entitled to your opinion, I strongly believe in the importance of privacy and security when it comes to Bitcoin and Lightning transactions. While HTTPS encryption provides a good level of protection, it is not foolproof and can still be subject to attacks such as man-in-the-middle attacks.

By using Tor or other privacy-enhancing technologies, users can help to obfuscate their IP address and create a more private and secure environment for Bitcoin and Lightning transactions. Additionally, for those in regions with strong censorship or surveillance, Tor can be a valuable tool to bypass restrictions and facilitate financial freedom.

Of course, it is up to each individual to decide what level of privacy and security they require for their specific use case. However, I would encourage all users to prioritize safety and privacy when transacting in the decentralized financial ecosystem.

Eso no lo imaginé, gracias

True but I'm using Tor because I run my node from a physical machine in my house and I don't wanna leak my IP.

Since I'm using Umbrel the Bitcoin node also connects through I2P, although not the Lightning node, not sure it's possible to use Lightning over I2P yet.

But the weakest link in Tor is exit nodes. If you only connect to your own node, which is itself an onion hidden service, no traffic goes through an exit node.

Feds can still control enough relays for a timing attack sure. But unless they have reason to specifically target you, I don't think this is a concern for most people.
