What I find interesting is the majority of people I speak with agree that large corporations including governments need to be broken up and reduced in size, but they disagree on how to do that.

One way is for an authority to pick the winner or favorite and suppress the other businesses and governments through regulation (central planning)

The other way is free competition to see which company and government survives.

While true you can still have some horrendous companies and governments win an open competition, it's exponentially better than someone picking their favorite and suppressing all else.

Open markets can self correct, central planning cannot.
