Hey everyone! 👋

We'd love your opinion on the new nostr:npub1plstrz6dhu8q4fq0e4rjpxe2fxe5x87y2w6xpm70gh9qh5tt66kqkgkx8j feature. We want to display different timelines on your Nostr feed using buttons at the top. These buttons will hide as you scroll, freeing up screen space.

However, we're unsure how to handle the Search button with long lists of timelines. We want it easily accessible and we're open to your thoughts and suggestions. Also, there won't be space for the search button in the bottom menu.

Let us know what you think!

The relays can’t seem to handle so much video updates 😂

😅🤷‍♂️

I believe that user should not search for a search button so option 2 is out of the game

Option 1 seems like it's interfering with other design elements, option 3 (jump) is a winner for me, maybe it would be even better if it didn't have to jump at all, let it be static in one position

Great way to show the difference. I use search a lot, I vote for overlay. Slide hides it and jump just looks 'off'.

I am personally leaned most for the overlay too and least for the jump as it attracts too much attention.

I'm making a Nostr client myself, solely out of interest (https://cosanostr.app) with Flutter and Dart as PWA only. But for the life of me, I can't seem to find well written tutorials or explanations online after building the feed and storing keys. Do you know where I could dive in some docs/tutorials? Just a finger in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, this is quite new to me 🙏

nice

I am sure nostr:npub1eqmj85el4pkg7qdj2jcae24qykev5evnyz2s6pzdytzpkhga4u5sdmhexk will be able to give you some tips.

Thank you, I reached out!

I like option one, but make timeline list go dim (or “fade out”) 21px before search button please

We were trying this exact idea before and tried it again today. Even though it sounds simple, we faced technical limitations related to background blur. https://nostrcheck.me/media/public/nostrcheck.me_1686921916190559071689123667.webp

awesome!

This is still way better than n°2. Maybe if the search button was rectangular with rounded edges, it would help it stand out more and at the same time solve this technical limitation.

21px is jus silly joke of mine :) actually match search button right padding

Option 1 is interfering but we tried to distance it from underlaying content with search shadow and opacity of underlying text.

Option 3 without the jump is more or less option 1. And if we fade the buttons to not go under the search button, it doesn’t look good as there is also blur applied that blends randomly with the content under.

dunno what is meant by diff timelines?... but if you mean like the 'Explore' page on primal.net, thatd be awesome

if you could combine following tags/search terms in the dropdown... even awesomer

Yes. You will be able at he end to create your own feeds of posts based on hashtag, filtering the global timeline, list of profiles or see the posts from perspective of any pubkey. That is the idea.

Cool... btw unrelated feedback, but the main feature keeping me from going Amethyst->Plebstr is switching between multiple accounts (i.e. 'add account' option)

Understand. We already work on it as well and it is coming down the road after some few missing functions

Being able to switch between multiple profiles in Twitter and Mastodon style would be great imo.

Overlay for me 👍

🙌 +1

Out of those I like option 3. Another suggestion is to make the search button persistent where it is, and then have the timeline buttons fade out as they slide behind the search button.

Or have the timeline buttons slide into and out of the search button.

That could be the way but have issues with it 👉 nostr:note1qa9f5wkv5lmugzrdny4hdm986fwawyf64039w3daueywqswpjrvs20k3aq

If these are the only options, then n° 3 it is, but I would rather see the search button on its own, less cluttered by other stuff and bigger.

If that wasnt possible, then I'd have it where it is, but have it always visible and in one place. Maybe the buttons could start fading a little earlier, and fade out completely before ever reaching the search button. Maybe they could hit a hard edge of the search button area and vanish entirely upon contact.

Honestly tho, as much as I'd love different timelines, I kinda hate the proposed design of it altogether. Instead of a list, where I'll only ever see max 2 items at once, I'd just add more options to the current select.

Thank you for feedback. Good points.

More we think about your last paragraph better it gets. 🔥

I would not like to loose search button.

Frankly in design I would bluntly copy Twitter 😁.

Easy access to two time-lines on top, easy access to likes, search, zap at the bottom.

Also you can switch time-lines by swiping, thus indication can be absolutely minimal, not big touch button.

Go oN TwItTeR tHeN

Jump would be my preference. Overlay looks unintended. Always there, looks intentional.

Slide option looks nice.

Overlay. Let’s not search for the search button :)

Looking for the sesrch button solution means you have solved the menu and new post buttons. Shouldn’t the ssearch button follow similar principle?

Thats nice i think.

Could it pop out like a little old folder tab , always there like a little line, side swipe on it?

Hello. That's a good feature. Please I will like you to include word count in the text editor
