It's looking like the FOSS Browser in the f-droid store might do the trick. Unfortunately it doesn't block youtube ads, but apparently yewtu(dot)be redirects for youtube addresses seems to solve that problem...? It's a little bit of an adjustment, but looks good so far.

Download newpipe from Fdroid & set it to open video links by default.

It's a game changer.

NewPipe. If you watch YouTube videos through anything else but NewPipe you're doing it wrong.

👀

Check out this, another handy tool for Android. Works for almost any online video.

Is that true for iPhone too and in that case why?

Why is NewPipe good in general?

OMG! More than 2x playback speed on videos! I have wanted this for so long ❤

Depending on your privacy needs you can use torbrowser for android. Mull browser (ffox-based) in f-droid is also a good pick - lightweight and comes with good add-ons.

If for youtube only, newpipe is a good choice indeed. Alternatively you can use any invidious public instance (yewtu.be is one) at api.invidious.io, or use farside.link/invidious for a random, working instance everytime.

are you really using web apps that much? They are not just annoying but slow and shitty usually in comparison to a native app (cough, java - is actually quite fast despite the virtual machine code interpreting).
