Gender is binary. It's not a social construct. There hasn't been any recent new scienctific breakthrough that discovered more genders.

I would say that gender is separate from but extremely strongly correlated to sex.

And the hilarious part is that in gender-bender Sweden, we only have one word for sex/gender: kön.
We don't even differentiate between them because they are the same thing.
