hey i'm working an a kind of "introduction to nostr" video, and i need some help with the audio.

i was trying to use parler-tts to read the script, but the output quality wasn't that great...

does anyone know how to improve the output quality? or know of a better open-source TTS?

or maybe just zap me enough to hire a VA 😹

(^ this is a joke, don't send your sats)

When you say low quality, what's the issue? Idk anything about parler if it's a bitrate issue or something, but in general, adding some reverb with Audacity or whatever can help make vocals (especially TTS) sound more pleasant.

On the other hand, I'm enough of an open source nerd to play luanti, and I still can't recommend any open-source TTS against the proprietary offerings.

certain words not pronounced well, parts entirely skipped, and inconsistent tone/pacing

i feel i'm doing something wrong, others say it's great 😅

That stuff can happen with a great TTS. The best TTS seems to always take multiple tries to get stuff right, unlike a great human orator who can nail it on the first take, or even some old speech synthesizers that can do a decent first take.
