Good morning Nostr! Had a great Saturday visi8my brothers family who just started raising bees. Since covid started they have started raising chickens, rabbits and now bees. Also showed my brother how to get his #bitcoin off an exchange and onto exodus wallet. Gonna gift him a cold card next. #homesteading #selfreliance #gardening #bees

I've thought about bees. Maybe next year. I seem to have a really active wild hive or two around now, but I don't know where they are.

Go for it! You can try to set up a swarm trap to hopefully catch some free bees! It’s a little bit of a more advanced way to get into beekeeping, but it’s a good option if you think there are feral bees in the area. A swarm trap would given them a better home than they might have in the wild. You can then transfer them to a new hive. You’ll need to get all the equipment purchased and ready, which will cost some time and money. It is what it is. There are some pretty good videos on YouTube about catching swarms and about setting up your first hive. Good luck!

I think I would like to try. Definitely not this year, possibly next, more likely the following year. Right now I'm working to get native wildflowers and prairie grasses to grow. And there are other projects a little higher on my list.

Those will really help your bees when you are ready for that phase of your life. Good luck!

Winter is the time to do your equipment work. Get those traps built this winter. It's worth it I promise.
