The swarm cells I found yesterday make me a little nervous. I don’t think I know what I’m doing enough to try to split my hive, so I have to let nature take its course. Just in case my girls decide to swarm, I set up a swarm trap not far away from my hive to try to catch them. I have it baited with lemongrass oil and Swarm Commander. Fingers crossed.

Had to add another deep for brood because the bottom two were totally full. The yellow hive is a monster. Is that a queen cell or swarm cell at the bottom of the frame?

Added a queen excluder and a honey super to the yellow (from nuc) hive. Both brood deeps on the bottom are practically full. Green hive on the left (from package) is newer and only about 60% full.

I like what Kennedy says about #bitcoin. Hopeful that bitcoin may become more bipartisan again. However, the deck is so stacked against this guy. Biden will not debate, has cherry-picked South Carolina as the first primary state, and may not even put himself on the ballot in New Hampshire to avoid an embarrassing loss to Kennedy. Biden wants to receive a pass toward coronation. Maybe next time, Bobby Jr.

The US response to the banking crisis is completely backwards. Why are US taxpayers on the hook to bail out these banks, when the reason they are failing is because they have done a terrible job of running their business? Why are they allowed to privatize their gains yet socialize their losses?
I’m thinking about gifting #bitcoin for graduations this year. Last year and the year before, I thought about it I couldn’t figure out a way to do it. Thanks to nostr, I’ve learned more about #lightning and the ability to create invoices. Is there a way to create an invoice, then create a QR code or some thing that can be printed, and then put that in a graduation card? The graduate could then redeem the invoice using cashapp or whatever they might have. They would then have the option to go down the rabbit hole or convert it to fiat if they really want to. The hope is that they will appreciate the gift, spread the word about Bitcoin and keep it and/or use it for #zaps here on nostr. This has to be something really easy, focusing on people who have never used #BTC or crypto in general. Thoughts? Thanks!

Couldn’t agree more. 2nd degree black belt in karate, yellow belt in jujitsu, helper at the dojo. My 3 older kids are black belts and some of the younger ones are on their way along their journey. Great way to teach discipline, hard work, attention to detail, perseverance, the ability to take some pain, and self defense.

That’s what I’m hoping. There were several hundred bees all over the in-law’s garden yesterday. Plenty of things flowering, especially radishes. Today when I had a chance to get out here with a swarm trap, it’s 15 degrees colder, a bit windy, and occasionally rainy. Almost no bees to be found. I don’t have any previously used frames, since I used them for my own hives, so I brushed melted beeswax, drizzled some honey, and used some lemongrass oil. We shall see.

Go for it! You can try to set up a swarm trap to hopefully catch some free bees! It’s a little bit of a more advanced way to get into beekeeping, but it’s a good option if you think there are feral bees in the area. A swarm trap would given them a better home than they might have in the wild. You can then transfer them to a new hive. You’ll need to get all the equipment purchased and ready, which will cost some time and money. It is what it is. There are some pretty good videos on YouTube about catching swarms and about setting up your first hive. Good luck!
