GM. First night running a miner. Anyone have any tips on solo or pools, etc.? Brand new to this but it’s time to learn.

I have 5 pointed to solo.ckpool. that case makes it hard to cool the voltage regulator. Make sure your wallet addy is correct. Mining a block only to have it lost forever would be devastating.

Are you running Sparrow with your miners(if you didn’t lose your wallet in a fire last year)? Also, what temps are you trying to keep your miners at so you don’t over clock/ overheat them?

No I have them set to deposit to a ledger wallet. I've never done anything with sparrow despite hearing about it everywhere.

I have mine set to 62°c but upgraded to El mirage heatsinks from nostr:npub12qeuylug4nu0y7q5svp3x4ut5pjxwju9ru0k87yydv56yhhewheqzk8e8x and I have smaller heatsinks all over to keep the voltage regulator cool. Mine are mostly overclocked to 710/720 freq and 1200 voltage

What is your hashrate with those settings?

Super helpful. Thank you. I’ll check out nostr:npub12qeuylug4nu0y7q5svp3x4ut5pjxwju9ru0k87yydv56yhhewheqzk8e8x as well. Thanks man.

BTC Sessions has some good tutorials on this.

That’s who I used to get my WiFi set up correctly. Had no idea I needed to configure to 2.4 GHz. I didn’t even know what that meant until 12 hours ago.

Also, I can’t zap you. Why won’t you just take my money?

You mean me?

Now it worked. Good to go.

👍

Thanks for the heads up.

First get it up iff the floor because its going to suck up a bunch of dust into the cooler fins.

That’s on a desk. You clearly don’t have an eye for high end ikea clearance furniture.

Public Pool is probably the easiest to setup. There's also Datum (Ocean) and CK Pool

I tried this last night with Public pool but could not get in. I’m assuming I need a new OS. I have an Umbrel coming in, will this allow me access into public pool or can I do it on any OS like Mac? Again, I type with one finger so this is like helping a toddler learn calculus.

CK pool is extremely easy. Maybe not optimal but a 15min setup.

Thanks, I need easy and it’s probably a good start point.

Is that a Bitaxe? Can you access the Axe OS webpage?

Input: public-pool.io and the port 21496

Then the bitcoin address you want to receive the block reward to. Just leave the password as it is.

Yes and yes. Awesome, thank you.

Have you noticed strange daily outages every hour or so on Public Pool? I've noticed better uptime on CK Pool.

If you want steady but small rewars try braiins

I’ve never heard of this but I’ll take a look. Thanks. Tried zapping you but it denied me. Let me zap you Sam!

testing zaps for this note… we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, at cyberflock97@phoenix.me, over a period of 13 minutes. in each case, we found that your lightning address service or server did not respond correctly. if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- https://rizful.com ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this ⚡zap test again.

Thank you. I’ll read through them.

Alright, I read them. Regarding oceans and decentralization-I like it. Am I able to run that with Umbrel? I have that node coming in next week. If so, if you had an Umbrel and a bitaxe; how would you configure and run that first set up?

Yes I run my BitAxe on Ocean, you don’t need a node to do that, unless you want to define your own template in case you find a block.

If you want to get started quickly and easily with Ocean, then here are the instructions:

https://ocean.xyz/getstarted

Your Umbrel will allow you to mine with Ocean using your own block template using their DATUM protocol, discussed here:

Or if you want to solo mine with your own credentials, then @npub1wtgd9ccg76awlp29zl3h466l89wr7hsut0n3ucmtr95h4t29jc6srlsxp2 comes as an option with your Umbrel

You’re the man, Mike. Really appreciate it.

Your welcome.

Mining is a fun and rewarding journey, enjoy.

I'm hopefully not too far behind you 🤞

Good Luck! 🍀

I think ya'll should try gomining it's one of the best so far and it's very versatile 👌.

Thank you. Never heard of this but looked it up. Looks like it’s a centralized version.
