Can't you do a factory restore?
It won't even turn on. Finder doesn't recognise it and it was fully charged and charged whilst going through the upgrade.
Take it to a store. I'm sure there's a way to do a hard reset 🤔
I may have to. That's quite a drive away.

Wat? It’s a 4 year old phone, of course it’s supported. Apple usually supports device for this long or longer.
