Many of the things that make nostr great were inspired by Bitcoin. Censorship resistance, permissionless access, decentralization, and more are core properties of both protocols. Almost all the devs are Bitcoiners and implement zaps on their clients, so even if you get someone to try it out without ever mentioning Bitcoin they will still be exposed to it almost immediately when they get here just from the UI.
Unfortunately that means that whatever biases they have towards Bitcoin will be projected onto nostr as well. Those that already dislike Bitcoin will go back to X or wherever and use the association to talk shit. Once the association is made between the two I don't think there's any way to disentangle them.
Plus many Bitcoiners here wouldn't want to anyway. I see people talk about how nostr is the way we are going to supercharge Bitcoin adoption. If people can understand why nostr is good and works well then they will be closer to understanding those similar elements of Bitcoin.
Nostr doesn't need explosive growth to succeed, it just needs to keep chipping away at the establishment just like Bitcoin has been doing for 14 years. This is the long game we are playing, and Bitcoiners are nothing if not patient.
