True, there probably are few to none. However the tried alternatives have been worse (see the Soviet union or East Germany). I don't know if there is a solution that's actually good. Some think that in a perfectly free market, corporations wouldn't grow to such sizes, but I doubt that's correct.

The tried alternatives are worse? You have no idea how much further these tyrannical corporations are going to go. And lets look at how far they have already gone: destroying the planet, poisoning our water, driving mass inequality, slavery around the world, wars in foreign countries to steal resources, millions of unnecessary deaths, mostly civilians. Are you sure its worse than East Germany? And for who? dpends which side of those guns/drones/cobalt mines you are sitting. But regardless, can get much worse, Blackrock isn't about to relinquish its capital. Because that would be anti capitalist.
the soviet union caused some of the worst environmental disasters in the whole world. taking away the profit motive won't save the environment.
the war thing is really just democracy. under democracy, everyone becomes an enemy combatant and every piece of property becomes a munition. wars are more destructive and last longer under democracy. there have been no gentleman's wars since the beginning of modern democracy.
Many east Germans believe they were better off before capitalist unification than they are today. The wealth and employment gap between those living in west vs east in todays Germany is significant. Capitalism today is more totalitarian than communism of yesteryear, and there is no greater example of that than the intense surveillance of the population by of the tech capitalists in the richest nations on earth. The Stasi could never have dreamed of the kind of survelillence power capitalism has given to corporations. Surveillance Capitalism is the most burtal and oppressive form of governance in existence. And its going to get much worse. Elon musks america is a fascist state worse than any 'communist' state that preceded it.
One of the worst currently is China though. But I agree that surveillance capitalism is also a problem.
The UK has more CCTV per capita than China (the highest in the world). It also has more prisoners per capita than China, not as much as the US though. China invests in its people, in infrastructure, schools, healthcare, roads, high speed rail etc. - something the US does not do much anymore because the US is run by profit seeking megacorporations and china is run by govnts that limit what those corporations can do, and a govnt that taxes corps properly so it can invest in the people and its nation.
