Even before diving headfirst down the rabbit hole, it only took 4 pieces of information to convince me that I needed to own some bitcoin and hold it in my own wallet. It isn't rocket science:

1) The total supply of bitcoin—21M.

2) The total number of millionaires in the world—currently ~60M.

3) The logical assumption that people who are already wealthy will eventually want to own anything that has performed like this (chart 👇) against the dollar.

4) A very basic understanding of the effects of supply & demand on the price of anything.

This makes perfect sense.

For me, it was more emotional than logical. The day I understood what monetary debasement was a throw switch flipped in my brain. I will not be stolen from. Period.

💯 🔥 The further I went down the rabbit hole understanding bitcoin, the more I learned about the way money works in general and just how completely f'd up the world is in that regard. It was just all something I was never taught growing up. "The money" was something for the government to worry about and me to use. It's just how I assumed it works. Learning about bitcoin, so many pieces of the proverbial puzzle began falling into place and making sense as I learned more and more. Blows my mind when I stop and think about it.

We are all financially illiterate just like we were book illiterate 500 years ago pre printing press.

The printing press started the separation of church and state.

It took far longer for literacy and eventual change to happen, than it did to implement the press (under attack from the church) and disseminate bibles. We're only 15 years into bitcoin.

For more recent perspective, the internet was around for 20 years before the first web browser. The Web was around for another 15 years before the first smartphone. We're early. But bitcoin isn't going anywhere.

For me it was one big question: How can it be fucked with?

This took way to much of my time, mostly because of the blocksize war and the exchange hacks. I couldn't understand why people were not hodling their own keys, why would they borrow against the corn or why gamble with it at all.

Than I remember that everyone is a trader, greed is eternal and just because one is early doesn't mean they'll get to keep it. Temptation is a bitch.

My eureka moment was that this is the fairest thing ever.
