I've been using nostr.wine since launch and I'll say that it's probably the most consistent and best paid relay that we have across this ecosystem.

Hey Derek 👋 thanks man I'll give this a shot.... it directs me to their website it....

Does this look accurate?

Yes, you're at the right place.

Yep, that's it!

will this help with these issues ..

what are the benefits 🧐

also refresh rates are horrible

Many users have reported issues with Primal. You can try another client. It looks like you're using Android, right? Give Amethyst a try. Both clients are good, pros and cons for each exist. Amethyst is my #1 though.

I just switched from amethyst to Primal. amethyst wasn't loading notes properly. so far Primal has been way better in my opinion. threads are easier to read, and I was even able to figure out how to put up a profile picture, lol

The primal app on iPad is perfect.

On android is mostly unusable other than to post. Refresh is 20+ seconds.

How could that be a relay issue?

I actually don't currently have issues with Primal on Android. Everything seems fast for me. I can't complain to be honest. In the past, sometime earlier this year, it was very slow and unusable for me. Since then, Primal's been killing it, improving speed and performance. (I just tested now and it is fast.)

If it were me, I'd nuke local cache and check to see what relays I'm using. Somewhere around a 10-12 is a good number. Maybe less for you, maybe more for you.

And if it's still performing badly, I'd let nostr:nprofile1qqsdv8emcke7k3qqaldwv956tstu40ejg663gdsaayuuujs6pknw7jspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2uc86mqq0 know as he recently mentioned users letting him know if they're still seeing performance issues.

Look okay?

If it were me, I'd remove those two red ones.

Ty!

How does someone decide what relays to use or to optimize?

I have a shitpost about this from a year and a half ago and honestly it's not all that much better.

That said, some things have changed. You can now use WoT (Web of Trust) relays and some clients will also show you relays that your contacts are using.

But in the end it shouldn't matter as we all move to clients that support the Outbox model. You should be able to use any relay that you want and change often.

It was my daily driver and now I can’t get profiles to load, I like the ux the most for primal so far, I don’t like the content it serves me.

Damus is daily driver now.

I think primal is important for onboarding because of the native wallet.

I wish it didn’t have you auto follow 100 Nostr elite and instead let you click some dvms or pics that would follow certain hashtags.

Most people I try and purple pill aren’t bitcoiners and they probably don’t wanna see all that.

Might want the #catstr and #bloomstr from the get go.

It is only portrait mode .. works great for the Android phones but unworkable on Tabs if you hook a cover and keyboard ..

but would a paid relay fix this ?

i don't believe so, no. i don't think your issue lies with a paid versus a free relay.

your perfect is my problem. sry bro

Heres my relay list:

U r in my follows for awhile but t-y

coracle is the best for android now... amethyst is ok but IMO excessively complex... but it is the most popular android client

What benefits does a payed relay have?

Less spam is the biggest one, because payments act as a pay wall for spammers. But it's good to pay for services that you're using too. They also have many other relays and services too. All are mentioned on their website.

Why is that?

Many paid relays have disappeared over the last year and a half. Many have gone down or are inconsistent. I've never had a problem with this relay.

Ok, will see if I have this one. I paid for a few early on...
