I've noticed that when wives/gf want to get something they will always refer to the project as "we" or "let's". Ex "we need to clean" when in reality it means "I want you to clean".

I always redirect the statement to say "you want me to clean?" And let them know there is no "we" or "lets" involved. Makes them be direct about it. Then when they ask politely/directly "hey badsamm can you clean?" I'm usually much happier to do it.

Alternatively I will get overly enthusiastic about it and make sure they do it with me. "You said we should mow the lawn; you're coming outside with me"
