Vending machines, like soda and snacks, should integrate lightning payments. It would be so cool if you could stop at a vending machine, and whip your phone out to make an instant lightning payment for a can of Coke. It could have a little screen that displays a QR code after you make your selection. You just scan the QR with your lightning wallet app, and pay the invoice. The machine then vends your selection upon notice that the invoice has been paid.

The whole process should be as fast or faster than the current NFC Apple Pay, or Samsung Pay, or Android Pay functionality that most vending machines already have. The technology to make this happen already exists. It's just a matter of vending machines installing the hardware to display the QR, and creating an admin software that ports the existing internet access, and provides the ability for the machine owner to specify their wallet address to receive the payments each day. I feel like the Breez SDK could help make this happen.

That’s exactly what I did my friend! 🍻

All our vending machines take Bitcoin!!

Oh wow! Did you have to custom build the hardware and software necessary to create the lightning invoices, and process the payment, or is there a company that's already making the system?

We partnered with a hardware manufacturer that is interoperable with our API.
