But the fact that they aren’t means you can’t leverage them to bring in new people, it’s actually pretty random which ones you end up on, and confusing which ones you actually need to be on. It’s a good system for making the individual account sovereign, but a very bad system for attracting anyone interesting.

Hashtags, groups, and shared relay lists would solve that problem. Making a topic centralised on a relay is just dumb because it can be targeted.
