It is indeed. But you don't want to be that guy telling your friends that you run your own xmpp server and they all can join to enjoy secure and private communication.

I think it's better to help the frens how to setup their own servers instead of giving them accounts
this is why things like keet.io and p2p are good as everyone becomes a server with no effort
Pure p2p has a lot of problems. A server is not for everybody, that's true. Like not everybody bakes their bread. We need the right amount of division of labour keep decentralisation.
