You sure you didn't drink kool aid?
There's been major world changing shit going on this month, but chat bots aren't it.
You seem to have gotten caught up in some "agentic AI" you have zero evidence even exists. I guarantee you it operates on the "agency" and "intelligence" of a human operator (you, if self hosted)
I’ve been trying ai tools non-stop since gpt3, i have been the biggest vibe coding skeptic up until december.
i feel like it has finally got to the point where the models and context engineering are good enough that you don’t need to really type anything out anymore. Its much more efficient to describe the changes you want and incrementally review
Maybe I'm just nitpicking word choices too much and missing the underlying point. I'll keep seeing how this unfolds
how would you try to explain this to a skeptic that still thinks it’s all slop and fancy auto complete at best? I know people that still copy/paste out of the browser ui the most basic of tasks. they are excellent programmers.
The slop argument is completely destroyed by human in the loop mode. if you build an implementation plan together and review each change to the code, its not the computers fault for the slop, its your fault for not asking them what to change along the way
Your notes about AI are awesome!
The hardest part about software engineering is keeping up with how fast it changes.
Are you using Claude code with MoltBot? How is the credit burn?
What’s been your biggest aha moment?
realizing that
1. agentic coding felt slow only because i was trying to wait on it sequentially, and realizing the real speedups came from working with multiple agents concurrently.
2. the with the right context engineering, autonomy and freedom, that ai agents are super resourceful and tenacious. They really want to finish the goal by any means necessary.
3. I underestimated the power of giving them complete control of an entire system. I was shocked that i didn’t really have to think about installing or setting up things for it, it just does things itself. This fundamentally changes the way humans interact with computers.
Amazing - excited to see what your are brewing ⚡️
Haha, pretty much the same misery on my end: I regularly dream that my vocational exam (40 years ago!) has to be retaken, and of course I have absolutely no clue.
Alternatively, I’m in a band as the lead guitarist, mindlessly scrubbing away at the strings, and everyone is somehow totally into it—while I know exactly what kind of garbage it is, and I’m suffering the torments of hell. 😅
