Get an air gapped hardware device like Coldcard. You don’t have to worry about windows or buying a Mac and you can even power it with a 9v battery if you want. Problem solved

Good advice here.

Then use sparrow wallet and you have total control of your utxo’s to make sure never to spend your non kyc bittyq

Airgapped coldcard and sparrow are the givens.

The question is whether there are clear negative tradeoffs to using windows in this scenario over Mac or Linux.

Linux > Mac > Windows.

But why?

I can’t speak intelligently right now on the logic that backs up that hierarchy.

Linux is open source. Control is a big one. If you’re pretty technical, this is the biggest reason. It really depends on the user. Non-technical people are better off with Mac. Microsoft has a lot of known vulnerabilities & is an easier target for attack. Generally speaking.

Yep.

I am not very technical at all but why does it matter what you use if using cold card. Are we still open to attack even in that scenario

Exactly

Well that sucks as a non tech I was under the opinion air gap was safe.

I wouldn’t worry much about this. Read about #[4] experience with over-engineering & over thinking his setup & you realize that doing what works for you is best. KISS methodology works. Just don’t give your wallet over to the wallet inspector.

Thanks man. Thought I was doing the safest thing I could. Fuck the government 🤙
