Fun fact: No one publishes how many dollars or US Treasuries are held by the ECB. This means they hold an embarrassing amount.
According to Warren Mosler (who is or was previously an advisor & is an advocate of MMT) the Fed gave the ECB $9trillion off the books after 2008 so that they could print euros without needing member state approval. I suspect this has probably been going on ever since.
