Does anyone use the collapse buttons in coracle? Thinking of removing them. nostr:nprofile1qqs8hhhhhc3dmrje73squpz255ape7t448w86f7ltqemca7m0p99spgpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9uqsuamnwvaz7tmwdaejumr0dshsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjme0e8prr6 your thoughts?

I didn't even know they existed πŸ‘€

I could be wrong, I often am, but IMO, it’s important to promote collapsible posts and the like. This would be in lieu of the possibility that you would be using compression can aid in saving data, memory, cache/cookies; etc.. Would you say that there is a way you could develop a sort of compression system, so that your end users could be able to enjoy using coracle, while also saving device space, thus killing two birds with one stone?

Source: I used to try and fail at creating what are known as macros, for the proprietary MS Office software, back in IIT class. I ended up flunking the Excel exams, however, I also love file compression, and filetypes/tech in general.

I do not use it.

For me, collapsible threads are very useful for easily scrolling through long discussions. They are especially valuable on mobile where the page is longer and it is not so easy visually follow the thread hierarchy.

In fact I like them so much that a few months ago I implemented them in Gossip, struggling a bit with Rust :)

In the future we will have more users and therefore more complex discussions, their usefulness should increase.

I think the current Coracle user interface can be improved; in the design I'm working on, the switch has been moved to the left, attaching it to the line connecting parents and children, to make the goal obvious, and has been made a little larger to make it easier to click.

But I need to review it further, because this design does not work well with 2nd+ levels.

An important note: to be really useful the collapsible action should work on the parent note too, hiding it. This way you can actually "mute" the whole sub-thread.

For this reason I'm also tempted to move the action to the top of the note, I need to think more about this.

Ahh, that's what that button is for πŸ˜‰

Okay, it's not that obvious yet haha πŸ˜‰

collapsing content is a good method for moderation like notabug did

I don't use them at all, but it would be *really* nice if the "Show N more replies" text could display them in the feed rather than opening a new pane (or whatever you call these things).

FWIW I don't really like the "pane"s in general, Id rather I was able to open threads in separate tabs in my browser which doesn't seem possible at present. I admit I may be in the minority here.

Thanks! Next release should allow ctrl click on the note's date to open in a new window.

thank *you* for coracle ;-)

hadn't even noticed it x)
