This is a black mirror episode (literally, it is). Most people wouldn’t want a replica because they know the whole time that it’s a replica which would make them very uneasy. Unless the persons consciousness, mannerisms, and personal knowledge can be downloaded in the replicas brains, no one would want it. At that point, though, we’re beyond AI and into portable human consciousness.

Easy to say “no one would want it” but with billions of people on the planet some people will.

Not enough would want it for legislation to be passed giving all human rights to robots. I think consciousness would really be the make or break point.
