It’s easy to say no, but imagine losing a kid or spouse and getting an AI companion (replica) of the person. You’d want them to have rights, no? nostr:note19f4cvtzrrlrupaq86ss0zna7gh9f889qy9svzmhasvwzquyhrkpq3gl2m5

UBI for AIs?

🤷‍♂️ I don’t have the answers

👍

Is this a joke?

No man common now, they can’t even give us ower rights now you think a man built AI has rights? What’s next cartoons and car’s have rights? 🤡🥜

I imagine in this scenario the AI is much more aware than a car or a cartoon.

You’d probably interact with it like human.

AI is already implemented in cars and more to come. We most certainly can not give AI rights . Even the thought of a human contemplating this beyond observed

What? Absolutely not. They wouldn’t be the person, literally. Just a machine. A mirage. Nothing more.

How about this wild scenario:

AI gets to near-human level. We put them into organic-lined robots that feel / act somewhat human.

You and your spouse have a hard time conceiving and you decide on an AI “child”.

One day you are all walking together and some asshole comes from nearby and shoves your “kid” in front of a bus.

Destruction of property? Maybe just get a new one? What if you were emotionally attached to it? But it has no rights to “live”. Assholes just pays some damages for destroying property.

Thoughts?

Still treat it like property, get a new one, re-upload, start again?

As of today, yes, I’m in camp “fancy machine.”

I think it's healthier to let loved ones go than to hang onto a simulacrum.

I think so too but I imagine if we get there, millions of people will choose the other option.

This is a black mirror episode (literally, it is). Most people wouldn’t want a replica because they know the whole time that it’s a replica which would make them very uneasy. Unless the persons consciousness, mannerisms, and personal knowledge can be downloaded in the replicas brains, no one would want it. At that point, though, we’re beyond AI and into portable human consciousness.

Easy to say “no one would want it” but with billions of people on the planet some people will.

Not enough would want it for legislation to be passed giving all human rights to robots. I think consciousness would really be the make or break point.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭

Here’s black mirror episode if you were interested.

I’ve seen it :)

Nice, it’s a good watch. Is that what prompted your twist in the original question?

No I wasn’t thinking about this one but who knows, maybe subconsciously I was 🤔

If you shutdown the replica, is that murder?

I think most would argue it’s just destruction of property.. but you know it would only be a matter of time before it happened to someone in position of power to change the laws.

Next kulture war android lives matter 😂
