Homeschooling is so cool. I’ve been so heavily indoctrinated by the state that it’s blowing my mind that homeschoolers don’t really have grades (as in “what grade are you in?”). Where I live we have to send education plans to the town’s school district every year. Instead of basing it on grade, most homeschoolers use age as a marker for where a child is in their learning. It’s a slight differentiation but I feel like it opens the mind to the many different ways learning can take shape.

I went to a workshop last night and got a list of homeschooling philosophies. Charlotte Mason immediately jumped out as something I might be interested in and I’m excited to do more research. Anyone have a favorite homeschooling philosophy? Unschooling sounds cool but I’m not sure I could handle something completely guided by my child. I already make my kid do handwriting workbooks if he wants to watch tv, hahaa
