Why the attachment to the fediverse? Genuine question in the context of my move in the opposite direction, and guided in part by @NVK.

this is a pretty big question to answer, but firstly, Nostr wasn't around when i joined in 2017. secondly, i run a multi-user instance there and a real community is beginning to form around it. thirdly, this place is still mostly just coinbros.

more on coinbros: i'm okay with crypto and i'm a techie but it's not my hobby and i like to read and talk about other things, so i'm still waiting and seeing if more like-minded people will join, especially if i already know them from fedi.

and i'm not about to abandon my 2000+ followers on my main account there, you know...

Makes sense.

Yeah I found you on fedi as one of the non-cringe accounts showing up in global. So recognised you here.

On the coinbros:

I'm bitcoin only as that's the zero to one step forward taking us into the sixth wave... while everything else crypto is a grand incubation to prepare for central bank digital currencies. Some fascinating innovations in crypto space along the way - broadly useless or dangerous if you have a libertarian outlook, exciting if you like being governed. So in the end it's a worldview question not a technology question, which makes it even more exciting.

im with you on this coinbros thingy, not my cup of tea but im fine with it, hoping to see more regular folks joining nostr

i'm already seeing far more straight women here than i tend to see on the Fediverse. it's great that the LGBT crowd has a hangout, but i like to just have an even mix of demographics, and that mix is a bit skewed toward nerdy, LGBT and left-wing on the Fediverse.

(a notable exception to this rule is noagendasocial.com, the Mastodon server of podcaster Adam Curry's show No Agenda, plus all the vaguely rebellious self-hosted Pleroma instances out there)
