Also your story reminds me.. I totally forgot i checked out how electricity worked last year..
This was what I took away from the documentary and makes so much sense wrt that story:
Bulbs don't light up through the energy current that flows inside the wires, they light up through both the electric and magnetic field propagating through space 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 them.
