Don’t what you’re talking about. Americans do use the word “of” after the word “couple”. Example: “Bring a couple of beers.”

9 times out of 10 that would just be couple beers when I hear or read it coming from an American🤷🏻♂️. It might be dependent on State or region though, I'm not sure as I'm not American.
