Unfortunately even inspirational Islamic figures aren’t free from shitcoinery… hopefully this is a mistake but if not, then I guess the temptation for easy gains was too strong.

That’s 100% the issue with everyone and with everything. But at some level there is a level of personal accountability. Before you offer to take people’s money, you verify you can. There is a Hadeeth that states:
The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “There will come to the people a time when a man will not concern himself where his income is from, whether it be halal or haraam”
We all need to be careful when taking peoples money.
Ach he doesn’t know. I believe he has no ill intentions. He is getting scammed.
