Following hastag helps a bit.. primal client use some also for trending users or note. Otherwise check on nostrband, also there I think there is an algo for trending topics and nostriches
Probably the most powerful way to discover content is to follow hashtags.
I followed a bunch of people way back when and every so often I follow people who reply to those people and unfollow those who fill my feed with noise.
You could just copy someone else's follows maybe?
