Ok #asknostr time.

So I've been dealing with a particular situation for months. I have some pretty shitty neighbors, and they have six tiny, yappy dogs that bark all the time. I have tried talking to the neighbors face to face about this several times. Nothing has been done about the problem, and I've gotten to the point where I've resorted to tyranny and complained to the city, but of course, in proper government fashion, nothing has actually been done.

Is there any sort of thing that I can do that won't necessarily harm these animals but will still deter this behavior that I can do as a third party? I'm genuinely at a loss at what to do here and I'm in a pretty frustrated position. Now that I'm working from home more, I have to listen to these fucking dogs bark all day and all night.

Oof that sucks. As a dog owner I feel I have a responsibility to keep the noise to a minimum. I would keep complaining to the city incessantly, maybe see if your other neighbors are fed up as well. Make it a group effort.

I wish all dog owners were this responsible.

There is no solution, anoying dogs will do what dogs does: bark all the time.

Best I can think of is try to genuinely improve your relation with your neigbours, maybe even the dogs, at least you won't feel like you live next to an enemy.

It may sound silly but voluntary accepting the stuff you cant change really makes a difference in how you feel about it.

It won't fix the dogs but probably will make it easier to accept the reality.

Brilliant, nostr:npub1purplenlftvy2g6naspv4jpsuajzkaxy4pp8rrzmejcx3duc5xnqme3mde.

Along these lines, nostr:npub1gnwpctdec0aa00hfy4lvadftu08ccs9677mr73h9ddv2zvw8fu9smmerrq, consider some defensive remedies such as sound absorbing barriers between you and the neighbors, and music or white/pink/etc. noise to mask the barking?

I suppose your ultimate remedy may be to relocate... Mars, anyone? 😜🫂😆

Unfortunately, I fear you are probably right, but I have a hard time accepting it as it definitely affects my ability to focus and work, thus impacting my business.

I guess I'm going to have to find some local coffee shops to do some work at.

If you're renting, read your lease. Make sure there's no provision in the lease that addresses the need for quiet time.

I feel you I’m dealing with the same thing. But with huge dogs on the other side of the valley which echo up and down the valley all night.

i have very seriously considered everything you have and more. I am currently living in large noise canceling headphones at night. Which pisses me off on principle but seems better than… other things.

I would say, the key to weaponizing the State is persistent whining, and potential public embarrassment for their agency if they do nothing. I know it feels douchebaggy using the State, but how much is your peace and sanity worth to you? And isn’t it better than the alternatives?
