Certainly not a bad decision having decided not to go to Dubai with Fam. For now? Who knows. This world is crazy. The times are crazy. I don’t know where we will live in 5 years. Dubai is still an exciting place to visit from time to time. Living there is rather different. Most people I know burned through cash very quickly. And one or two guys who live like kings are not reality. In Dubai you have to perform. Living expenses similar to Switzerland. A free country? An illusion. No VPN, no freedom of press. However, the way the royal family is currently managing things is very appealing and much better than any democracy anywhere in the world. Good to get reminded in the hotel this morning that Dubai is still on the list.

Everyone I know who has been there has spent an enormous amount of money in a very short time. It's like Disneyland for adults. None of it is sustainable and it doesn't get you anywhere.

The illusion is still alive. Most thing you can work hard and make it there. Reality is rather that most won’t. But what is also true: when you are rich as f, it is more attractive for your wealth than Singapore or Switzerland.
