When you go grocery shopping, how many meal or days do to shop for at once?

In my early 20's I heard some of my friends complain that they'd seen their guy friends pick up only 1-2 items at a time. They thought it was a waste.

In reality, they picked up what they needed at the time, actually really efficiently, just not long term strategic.

Personally, I can go either way, depending on how much information I have about the following days.

Having done full time vanlife for almost 3 years, without a fridge, we could only buy stuff for up to 3 days anyway, or we shopped every day for that days meals.

Since getting pregnant, we'd usually get the evening meal and something for me to eat the next day.

When we're at home, we've recently been getting maybe up to 3 days worth of food, as our plans have been to get back to work in a different city after that amount of time.

When we first got the motorhome, we got almost $200 worth of groceries and basically didn't leave for 2-3 weeks. That was really nice!

Growing up, my family would go grocery shopping in the city once a week, and maybe pick up some more milk or such before the next trip. (Milk in Sweden comes in 1 liter cartons, and are only good for about a week, unlike the gallon (3.7liter) that lasts like a month in America.

So, I'm curious, what does your grocery shopping look like? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜Š

I do a big haul every two weeks and then pick up a few things once a week for produce and grab anything else I forgot to get before.

Probably twice a week, on average. If my - and especially my kidsโ€™ schedules - are known in advance for the week, Iโ€™m thawing meat from the deep freeze ahead of time for dinners, so a big part is just perishable vegetables and replenishing my deep larder/pantry as I deplete.

I don't have a fridge & manually top up a 15L ice chest every 24 hours, so I have a weird shopping schedule. ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ

I stock up on non-perishables weekly & then grab fresh produce/meat every 3 days or so as needed. ๐Ÿค™
