I've been wanting a dog too, but they might be with me when I'm away. I'm always on the lookout for entertaing ways of getting the deer to leave our plot alone.

I've also toyed with the concept of a sentry system that launches a drone to give chase, but that might not work. There are some brazen ones here. One of them didn't flinch when I approached.

My goal is to have a 3D (maybe electric too) fence before summer.
