Doctors “knew” for thousands of years that bloodletting patients was very beneficial (standard of care). They “knew” this based on clinical experience (daily practice). Yet, when this belief was put to the test in one of the first ever clinical trials, it was clearly shown that bloodletting patients actually increased risk of dying by 10x!

Question everything.

Seems like our bodies have developed to make and hold the correct amount of blood, and other stuff, if we don't screw it up too badly.
