what was your #firstnostrnote?

I can't believe I've only been on #nostr for 7 months. It feels like a lifetime. đź’ś

A real life discussion?

Nope not IRL. Twitter and forums.

Right around December time

What’s been your favorite part about using #nostr?

There is no middle man in this, all my notes are truly mine without any algorithms. I can be on one app and transfer everything to another. That and Nostr truly is free speech 🤙🏽

Trying to find mine. Nostr.band doesn’t show my posts before February even though I joined Dec. 15 last year 🥲

Found it!

How you can find your earliest notes:

I looked up your npub in snort (https://snort.social/p/yournpub) & scrolled down as fast as possible. If it doesn't get to that first note, refresh the page and scroll down faster.

You’re welcome

what did it end up being?

That was it:

“Just setting up my whatever this is.”

I think I wrote it on astral.ninja, remember that? I got Damus a day or two later.

Whatever happened to nostr:npub13sx6fp3pxq5rl70x0kyfmunyzaa9pzt5utltjm0p8xqyafndv95q3saapa anyway…? Nobody seems to know.

Said another way, what does #nostr mean to you now? Back then it was a “whatever this is.”

Also, we share a #nostrbirthday 🎉 (Dec 16)

Ah, now I understand your question better. Back in December, I was looking for a way to cut my ties with Twitter. I was already using it much less, having seen the trajectory it was on. I was more or less already done with centralized social media, as I was getting so much less out of it than I used to. I wanted to find that “Twitter in the early days” feeling again, and it sure as hell wasn’t on Mastodon. If nostr hadn’t come along when it did, I probably would have been digitally homeless by now. I saw something really raw and interesting and unique in the first iteration of Damus and the Astral browser app, and just started following anyone who seemed interesting, I found Jack, who surprised me early on by replying to some of my posts. I realized that this protocol had the power to finally democratize the conversational internet and take power away from tech giants. Having already been exposed to bitcoin, this really spoke to me, and when I realized that the Lightning network was baked into the system, I was completely sold. Whatever it was, I wanted to be here, and more to the point, I wanted to help it grow and succeed.

Beautiful answer. Thank you.

So nice that we share a #nostrversary day! đź«‚
