This proposed bill in Mississippi would make being an undocumented immigrant a life sentence in prison without possibility of parole. Because Mississippi practices unpaid prison labor, it’s the only kind of slavery still allowed under the US constitution, the law would enslave undocumented immigrants for life.

It has no chance of passing, for now. But this shows that some politicians are trying to reinstate slavery.

I think the incentive to come here would be for legal only. Having been in Russia and Uzbekistan you had better believe that when I was there I behaved myself and I did not fuck around. I have no sympathy for anyone coming here illegally.

I have known people who were illegal and I have hired immigrants who were legal to work so I'm not against them but when I travel I expect that I should respect the place I am in and not bullshit.

A lot of people forget, or more likely, were never taught the loop hole in the 13th Amendment.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, *except as a punishment for crime* whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

And crime is not defined. Technically you could get convicted for jay walking and end up a slave.

Slavery is what slavers do. Capture people. Whether they make you work or not is just a smokescreen for the initial issue...
