I’ve turned off only zaps. Fight me!
While I like the premise, after a multiple month experiment with it on, I now feel I am not seeing new nostr user shakas etc, and thus missing potential new users to follow. Also I can still zap when I like something so there’s that too. Best of both worlds.
More options is usually better. It makes the amount of support you would like to provide to a post very unique. Shaka is just one of many ways to support a post.
Agreed. A 🤙🏼 or a ❤️ or a 🔥 etc is still eyes on one’s note - it’s when they get automated that sucks.
Best example I can think of is when someone makes a post about something horrible that happened to them and they are seeking support from us. A like/shaka feels wrong. A comment and a zap is much better 🤙🏼

The like metrics will cause noise. There is no cost for a like, which in time will be free spam. While new users are used to the like habit, it is our responsibility to guide new users to settings up zaps.
Yes, agree. It is largely noise but with it off I wasn’t actually seeing any interaction apart from zaps. I use it now to sift through to find new users.
