Assassinated? Lol. No. You don't go to a giant crowd and assisanite him while speaking because he slept with your wife. Plus look at his wife, I mean really?
I'm not saying that's what happened. In fact I highly doubt it. I just wanted to point out, that there are possible scenarios in which he is not a martyr. However unlikely they might be.
