Christianity is the Schelling point of religion.

Judaism laid the foundation. Islam and Protestantism branched off. But the civilizational transformation following Jesus’s death has never been superseded.

Similarly, Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings is the Schelling point of high fiction.

Beowulf, King Arthur, and Der Ring des Nibelungen provided the mythic foundation. Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Dungeons & Dragons spun off after. But none hit the mark quite so well as Tolkien’s legendarium.

And Bitcoin is the Schelling point of digital assets.

Hashcash, Digicash, and Bit Gold laid the groundwork. Countless altcoins branched off after 2009. But none have come close to Bitcoin’s civilizational impact.

In religion, myth, and money, there is no second best.

En la Nueva Era, debemos de apartar la religión, las jerarquías y los líderes para crear una gobernanza Holocrática descentralizada ...la religión debería de pasar al espacio privado de cada cual y dejar el espacio público libre de dogmas. 🙏

Sounds about right. Interesting comparisons

Not bad opinions but this one is not feeling very “Alan Watts”…

There are many paths up the mountain. Each has its own beauty, and some suit certain travelers better than others, but not all are equally direct or pleasant.

Watts, though deeply appreciative of all religions, chose to be a Christian priest and wrote more on Christianity than any other faith.

He called Mahayana Buddhism “the highest doctrine,” yet emphasized that Buddhism isn’t a religion, but a dialogue.

This thread reflects that spirit.

this is very fake Alan, someone who wants to be like him, but is very not.

Amen

that's mainstream accepted history, but i got the point
