Don't lose your wallet files, because even if you have all the keys you won't be able to move the bitcoin without it.

Are there better multisig solutions you might recommend?
I would say if you are not fully confortable with multisig yet, don't do it, simply use a passphrase you can remember easily. A passphrase is a single word(with letters, with numbers or both) you can use on your 12/24 words seed phrase to create a different wallet, even if someone find your 12/24 words they can't find your bitcoin.
