Bought a mic and it doesn’t work neither on my iPhone nor MacBook. 😞 According to the brand it’s compatible with Apple. Does anyone know what it might be and what can I do to make it work?

If it's got a 3.5mm jack, make sure it's hooked up to the microphone input port and that you're recording software is listening to the right input.
I think I might know your problem, that apple lightning to headphone adapter is what your using to connect it right? I don’t believe that has an audio in, I believe it’s only audio out.
