If we can’t take it violently out of the hands of Big Tech all we can do is by some sly or roundabout way introduce something they can’t stop.

Telling 50% of Nostr users that your walled garden is better than their walled garden is not the way to #Nostr adoption.

Instead, let’s focus on creative ways to subvert the system. Otherwise it’s all just noise.

If you want to murder #Nostr adoption, then by all means, tell new users that need to switch their OS otherwise they’re “waging war on disruptive technology”.

Y’all are losing sight of the big picture here.

You didn't answer me.

Moving the goalpost just like Apple. Adoption shouldn't come at the cost of compromising what makes nostr nostr.

Because it wasn’t the point of my post.

Even though you’re right, telling people to change their OS is not the solution to the problem of Apple’s censorship.

Subverting Apple and creating viable alternatives for users stuck in their walled garden should be everyone’s response. Whether that’s building micro-apps, PWAs, etc.

My goal is #Nostr and #bitcoin adoption. We’re doing a shit job of it and this is making the situation worse.

I absolutely agree PWAs need to be a focus!

And I'm a realist, most people aren't going go switch devices over a Nostr client. That's a big ask, and it makes little sense as a short term goal. My only point is that trying to fight Apple on their turf to stay in the app store is a losing game. I think it would make the world a bet place if we all made better choices with we give our money too, but that's a different issue than what we are talking about here.

Maybe a hobbled version of Damus stays in the store as a funnel to bring folks in where the true PWA version is available? I don't know, but I think effort is being wasted trying to comply with them when we circumventing censorship should be the goal. First it's zaps, next it will be moderation and content.

Interesting take. Name a better option than a de-googled phone running graphene or similar? Because thats not a walled garden.. And im with you regarding sly ideas, but continuing to lick Apples boot is incongruent, no?

You can comply with guidelines and still find ways to implement desired functionality. You can use TestFlight for functionality, you can overload appstore with clients that all have different forms of the same functionality. You can use wpa parallel to apps to get what we want. You can have apps link to wpa to provide satellite functions. You name it.
