Any number of basic supply chain issues could do a pretty big number on our “strong and powerful nation”. Power grid, internet cables, hospital system, truck delivery systems…our banking system! Yes, we got a bunch of big guns I guess.

What you say is correct, but i'm struggling to see how it's relevant to the current discussion? Seems like a bit of a segue.
Many things outside of our control could threaten the affluence of developed nations, like natural disasters, for example. That doesn't mean that we should roll over and accept the internal threats.. that *are* within our control, at least to a varying degree...
(Incase you hadn't worked it out, yes, I'm talking about communism, dressed up in the garb of environmentalism).
